今回も例によってフレームネジをリニューアルします。

ドイツの部品屋さんでマイナスのネジを販売しているのを最近見つけたのですが、出来るだけオリジナルに忠実に再生したいしゴミを出したくないので、コストは上がりますがリサイクル路線で行きます。

I usually have the screws re-plate for recycle use.  Though I recently found a German dealer carries same slotted screws which hardly found in Japan, I thought it’s better to dump less materials and use them as much as possible.

ところで昨日もお客様宅を訪問して調律してきましたが、KAWAIのKU-3Dという40年物のアップライトピアノがとっても良い音を出していました。古いピアノには今のピアノにはない音があるような気がします。どっちが良いという比較ではなく、違いを感じるのですが、どちらも好きです。いつも気になるのは、古いピアノの音は新品の当時からこの音だったのかということ。時間が経過して今出している音になったのか、当時から今の音だったのか。不思議です。いつかその答えを見つけたいと思っています。

Yesterday, I visited a customer’s piano to tune it.  It was about 40 years old Kawai upright and it sounded beautiful.  I guess old pianos can produce sound that new ones can not.  I am not telling which is better.  They are both good and I like them.  My curiosity is about the tone the old pianos produced when they are brand new.  Were they like today’s brand new and the tone I hear right now is the change because the time has passed?  I really wonder and will find the answer someday.
