U7の張弦が完了しました。一昨日出来上がっていたものの、更新は今日になっています。張弦後の巻口を整える作業の方にも神経を使います。写真ではわかりづらいのですが、6列あるチューニングピンの高さが、下の列から一列上に上がるごとに1ミリ程度低くなっています。これをしっかり整えることで、アグラフ付近の弦の高さもきれいに整います。当時このピアノを作った職人さんのこだわりに驚きました。元のピンを抜く前に測定して、同じように再現しました。

Restringing U7 has been complete.  It also takes a lot of time to make windings evenly.  It is hard to tell by the picture that the series of the tuning pins structures 6 rows.  And from the bottom, the heights decrease about 1mm to the upper row.  The highest is 27mm on the bottom row and the lowest is 21mm on the top row.  By doing this precisely, the string heights between the tuning pins and the aggraffes are even.  Man, those old craftsmen’s work is amazing.  I measured the original tuning pins before removing them and restored.

巻口の方向もまあまあ。ピッチ上げとして3回ほど調律しましたがまだまだ。いっぱい弾いてならします。

I’ve tuned the piano 3 times and still needs more.  Also the piano needs to be played.
